Yo La Tengo at Maxwell’s

12/11/2007:

On top of the Hoboken City Hall Christmas Tree Lighting, the Ariana Nisler fund-raiser at the Elks Club, I also attended the Yo La Tengo show last night at Maxwell’s. Yes, I have the strength of 10 men (or more.)

This was one of the sold out shows that are part of YLT’s “Eight Nights of Hanukkah” celebration. From what I heard from attendees, they played a completely different set each night so far. Mixing up the tempo and style to give “super-fans” a great and unique performance each night.

Here’s one picture, see a few more after the jump.

I went to two nights (Dec 8 & 10) and I wish I could have gone to them all.The amount of energy they sustain for performing over 8 nights is impressive. All their shows have the same consistent level of quality, and to see them live is to see artists creating art, not musicians ‘performing’.This is a truly special thing happening here, but don’t tell your friends-I’ll need tickets for next year.
