Bow Tie Cinemas Hoboken NJHmm. A lot of “techies” in this world loved Steve Jobs, (who was one of the founders of Apple, in case you didn’t know). A “biographical” film about him opens tonight: Jobs. And perhaps his “legend” in the consumer world might warrant a movie about him, but I wonder. Cui Bono? Nowhere could I find out why this screenplay was written (by Matt Whiteley) while Jobs was still alive back in 2011? Who commissioned it? Was it part of Apple’s marketing plan? Anyway, if you do go see the film – see what Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak had to say about it. He said it was essentially exaggerated and wrong.

“It only takes one person to start a revolution. The extraordinary story of Steve Jobs, the original innovator and ground-breaking entrepreneur who let nothing stand in the way of greatness. The film tells the epic and turbulent story of Jobs as he blazed a trail that changed technology — and the world – forever.”

The movie is getting panned a bit for being weak and superficial: “Steered by a lead actor and director who are both way out of their respective leagues, Jobs is excruciating, failing to entertain and all but pissing on its subject’s grave.”

But some people didn’t have the nerve to trash it: “A biopic that’s perhaps too respectful of the tech icon’s innovations still remains frequently engaging.”
