Hoboken GPS spottings May 2013
Hoboken GPS and other valuables in plain sight
Continuing the monthly “PSA Photo Gallery,” Hoboken GPS Spottings (a reminder that it is completely moronic to EVER leave your GPS units behind in your vehicles.) No matter what time of day or night, it’s just not a good idea. Like leaving money on the dash!
Also included in the “stuff not smart to leave visible to thieves” category are radar detectors.
Who even uses radar detectors anymore? I don’t think I’ve seen a “speed trap” anywhere around here in the past couple years. (Except in CT).
However – in researching current radar detectors (you can get them now for under $40) – another interesting trend that might actually be helpful: Units with built in red-light and stop sign camera detectors! Might have to get one to see how it works!
Again, just like GPS units or dash cams – any electronic device left in plain sight will be considered valuable to the thieves among us.
Again, not doing this to publicly “shame” anyone, but rather to raise awareness that it’s not in your best interest to leave items of value in plain sight. If people chose common sense over convenience or carelessness, perhaps we can provide fewer opportunities for petty criminals to get away with an easy grab.
If this feature just saves one person from being victimized, then it’s worth it to me.
What do you prefer? The hassle of filing a police report and fixing your car? Or taking a few seconds of extra time to prevent it?
