Do you use the 14th St. Viaduct?
Hoboken 14th St. Viaduct will be completed in 2014
Here’s an interesting perspective of the ongoing 14th St. Viaduct project uptown. How many people here use that thoroughfare anyway? I’d have to say it was one of the least used exits for residents of Hoboken – and may be primarily used for folks who live nearby and work in Hoboken. I used it as an alternate when the bridges were backed up to high heaven. I’ll tell you this much, though, the ambulances up there sure loved screaming down the viaduct!
Note that the completion dates have been adjusted from the original construction schedule.
Structural work was supposed to be fully completed by mid-November 2013, but the updated target date for the viaduct to fully re-open is now mid-January 2014.
The rest of the cosmetic “streetscaping” is estimated to be completed mid-February 2014. These delays were primarily attributed to Hurricane Sandy.
But I gather with the recent massive Hoboken water main break in the vicinity, that another schedule adjustment is in order – and God knows if we get another hurricane bullseye for a third straight year. Not only are we “over it,” I’m afraid we might have an administration that can’t really handle that stuff either!
Pray for drizzle and 2mph winds for the rest of the year!
