Hoboken Market Schmarket

Hoboken Market Schmarket sign: Don’t pay high rents

Here’s the latest round of telephone pole messages (which is the modern day “soap box” declaration – except with anonymity). Sort of the same as making comments on websites.

This particular message must be from someone who wants to live in Hoboken – yet can’t quite afford it? And as you know – The Hoboken Rent Control Debate rages on – with pending legal battles still on the playing field. This person, who apparently thinks anyone paying top dollar to live in Hoboken with all it’s flooding is sick in the head, said:

MARKET SCHMARKET
Is this PARADISE or a FLOOD ZONE?
Stop over-paying to Buy or Rent in Hoboken
Many rents are extremely illegally high
The “market” is controlled by the consumer
It will only “bear” what YOU allow

Well – that is capitalism, now – isn’t it? But I suppose the same can be said for practically anything for sale on the market. $300 sneakers, $15 beers at baseball games, $250 bottles of vodka, and so on. With most of the populous living an extremely material life, and subconsciously influenced by media, peers, and more – this will continue until EVERYONE stops. Not gonna happen in our lifetime!

They should get a better job if they want to live in Hoboken so badly, or find some place more affordable.
