Galerie Attienette

9/11/2008 Update:

This place Galerie Attienette (14th and Sinatra) has officially been doomed.

The website says “by appointment only.”

However, the eager art-lovers probably don’t realize that the appointment will be with a Realtor, not an art curator!

Perhaps the owners didn’t understand that area tenants preferred disco fries and strollers rather than expensive art that only gets ridiculed on Hoboken411? Be nice next time, guys!

See some previous galleries they had after the jump…

4/16/2008:

If art is your thing, an opening reception is tonight from 6-9pm.

Color, Light and Caricature: A three-man show

Doomed to failure.

Bad timing, economically, re lack of discretionary income.

Plus, no apparent interest in local artists in the short life of this place. Despite Ms. K.’s lip-service on the attached vid.

The overpriced, hackneyed Botero & Dali stuff seemed the focus. Big snore, even tho’ their respective estates laugh all the way to the bank.

If folks want to buy interesting works from local artists, best to check out the exhibit at Maxwell’s, in support of our local working artists at Neumann Leathers.

Re 1. & 2.: Agreed, tho’ snarky.
At the risk of seeming same, w/all due respect to Ms. Knapp (& thanks to her for contributing to the cultural community), she’s so very painfully thin in the vid. Figuring that the camera always adds 25 lbs. Hope she keeps her gallery going & doesn’t fade into nothingness.
