PVS Gallery: 100k poets & musicians “for change” in Hoboken

Those interested in artsy & charitable events will want to read on for an event coming up this weekend in Hoboken:

Global Day of 100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change

September 29, 2012 will mark the second annual 100 Thousand Poets for Change, a global day of cultural events bringing poets–and musicians this year–together to call for environmental, social, and political change, within the framework of peace and sustainability. Nearly 700 events in over 100 countries are being planned worldwide. More information about events taking place around the nation and the globe can be found at www.100tpc.org.

In Hoboken, NJ, poets and musicians will perform on September 29, from 4-7pm, at the PVS Gallery, 49 Harrison Street. One focus of the Hoboken event will be on anti-hunger and anti-poverty issues. A suggested $5 donation at the door will go to The Hoboken Shelter, a local homeless shelter and soup kitchen, and WhyHunger, a national organization that was founded by the late singer-songwriter, Harry Chapin.

According to Danny Shot, a longtime Hoboken poet who is helping to organize the local event: “During these critical times, when new policies are needed on a wide range of social and environmental issues, 100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change is an inspiring idea developed by a group of West Coast poets that has quickly spread across the planet. This year, we are happy to have a venue for local artists to participate in this growing international cause.”

Scheduled to perform at the Hoboken 100 Thousand Poets & Musicians for Change event are the musicians: Dave Calamoneri, Steven Delopoulos, Glenn Morrow, and Elena Skye; and the poets: Vivian Demuth, Reg E. Gaines, Eliot Katz, Joel Lewis, Sharon Malenda, Nancy Mercado, Danny Shot, and Hersch Silverman; plus writings from the Hoboken Shelter and special guests.

For more information, the public is invited to contact the PVS Gallery at 201-874-9525 or paulvincentstudios@gmail.com.
