Volleyball at Maxwell Place

This morning, the Spike League Volleyball crew began setting up some nets at Maxwell Place in preparation for this afternoon’s games.

A resident called police to complain. Apparently they were hammering in spikes in the ground to secure the nets. According to the Parks Department, that was not allowed, and they were informed to stop, or use sandbags instead.

Glad that park is getting used more often since that wiffle ball game.
AMEN, BROTHA!
i do not think people should be drinking beer in the public parks. i do not think the bums should be permitted to brown bag it, so you people should not do it either. you live a few blocks away, and you passed 8 bars to get to the park, so there is no reason to drink beer in a park, ever. as for horseshoes; you require a proper pit on either side with back stops and stakes. the game is great fun but can be very dangerous, especially around small children. you can get a roller and it can travel very fast and bounce up an knock out teeth and eyes. whoever was drinking beer and playing horseshoes in a public park without pits was a complete idiot IMO.
Seriously, grow up.
try explaining the 8 million anti-maxwell rants on this site then….by the site operator as well as most of the posters.
some people just don’t like toll brothers and the development they did. some people have some valid gripes. maxwell is a big project in the town, so there are going to be a lot of people talking about it all the time, positive and negative. there’s lots of reasons why there are people that speak out against something. it usually isn’t “jealousy” either. but sometimes, it is.
anything wrong with the resident calling to complain if that was not allowed? once again, hoboken411 trying to make maxwell residents look bad. could it be that the volleyballers were doing something wrong by hammering into the grass which leads to the parking garage?
all hoboken 411 did was state the facts to create a discussion on the topic. i don’t see him berating maxwell residents.

who cares if they are putting spikes into the ground? it’s not for something bad like a guillotine. what the hell is wrong with volleyball? would you rather let the lawn be used so that those dog owners of the dirtbag variety who don’t clean up after their dogs can let fido run and play.
people need to stop finding things to complain over. find something else to do with your time. of course, i’m complaining here over the complainers, but they started it!? 😉
