Privileged parking for some

Letter: Car with NY plates never gets ticketed in Hoboken

One Hoboken411 reader who requested anonymity sent this photo in and wonders why it never gets ticketed. I guess it depends on who you know?

“This car parks almost exclusively on the two corners at 11 and Garden both of which are mark as RED zones. It never gets a ticket. Why? Because there is a NYC police placard on the dashboard. Why doesn’t the HPU ticket this car? This isn’t NYC last time I checked.”

Its a local resident(s) who lives on 11th.

Sometimes they do get tickets..once even being towed away after either racking up too many tickets or being on the resident side, at least there is the temp parking sticker now probably after the towing affair.

More often than not though I’ve seen other cars being ticketed in the red zone and this one being skipped so must depend on who is on the HPD duty and can be bothered to either cross the road or dismiss the laminate ‘FBI on Duty BS’ cutout on the dash.

Hopefully being made aware of this they might at least cut down on parking over the crosswalks.

also, if you have ever noticed, there is another “privileged Parker” in Hoboken. They drive a large beige/gold suburban and they usually put there own red car boot on, but they park in the yellow, block the cross walk, block garages, yet I never see a ticket when I come out in the morning, they are usually down my Lorraine’s chocolates, this guy has been doing this for over 5 years, I will take a picture next time I see it.

@briank lol, the tri-fecta, that’s the term I use for the violations the HPD commit while having lunch..they park the HPD cars 1) blocking the yellow 2) blocking the fire hydrant 3) blocking the cross walk

Is anyone around surprised that there are two sets of rules- one for the regular taxpayer sucker and one for the government self servers. I work in and around Hudson county. I see people skirting parking laws with handicap hangers (state law requires you fill the meter but don’t have to re-fill), law enforcement/government placards on the dash, and police badges affixed to the windshield. Around the courthouse in Jersey City you sometimes get what i call the entitled trifecta- badge, placard, and handicap hanger in the same car. Many of the parking authority employees just stroll right past these cars, but then hover over a car without them waiting for the meter to expire. We are surrounded by outright crooks and near criminal enablers in Hudson county.

If the editor of this website had any guts or sense of justice, he or she would have not redacted the car’s license plate number. There’s so much possible corruption, on so many levels that is related to this picture. For a website, who constantly cries about justice, redacting the plate just makes you look weakly, hypocritical. So many questions remain…is the car owner a NY resident who works as a Hoboken municipal employee? …a cop himself? Have some guts 411 and let the public see the license plate number so that inquisitive people can figure out who it is.
