Weekly Recap for Hoboken, NJ – July 8, 2012
Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday heat last week!
A selection of noteworthy posts for the week ending Sunday, July 8, 2012:
Politics and City Happenings
- July 4th Fireworks – Were the highlight of the week, with including a few nutty alcohol-infused incidents.
- Hoboken waterfront survives – For the most part – except for some damage at 14th Street. Wonder how Pier A will fare during the Mumford & Sons show in August?
- Will Hoboken traffic only get worse? – As development packs more and more residents into a mile square space?
- Entitled Bike Moms – Teaching kids the (wrong) rules of the road!
Updates & Events
- Mumford & Sons play Hoboken – Thousands will flock to a crumbling Pier A Park in August.
- Hotel Victor – Finally – good bar food at the old Hobson’s Choice space!
- Hoboken Eddie’s – Has great new sauces to liven up your next BBQ.
- Sammy’s Roadhouse – Closes up a less than a year after they opened!
- Clearview Cinemas – New movie debuts, and more (Buy your tickets online!)
- Movies Under the Stars – Continues through the summer.
This week in History
- 1889: The first issue of the The Wall Street Journal was published. Do you trust the “mainstream media” at all these days?
Inspirational Quote of the Week:
“Then it comes to be that the soothing light
At the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train comin your way.”
At the end of your tunnel
Was just a freight train comin your way.”
