What is New Jersey’s official dessert?
What dessert comes to mind first when you think of NJ?
Hoboken resident Meredith is a Pastry Chef – and relatively new blogger who started a fun website called Sweet State of Mine – where she plans to bake the “signature sweet” for each of the 50 states. She’s currently up to the “N’s,” and is asking for a little help about what the official dessert of New Jersey should be!
“I’m a Pastry Chef and about a year ago, decided to bake my way through the 50 states identifying a signature sweet for each state. Some are obvious, like Florida’s Key Lime Pie or New York’s Cheesecake – but others, have required more digging to discover – like Alaska’s Akutuq (Eskimo Ice Cream.)
The goal of Sweet State of Mine is to feature a dessert that represents a state’s culinary heritage or is something that is popular with that state’s residents that might not be familiar to those outside of the state. I’ve always enjoyed traveling and learning about culture through food, and Sweet State of Mine is a way for me (and my readers) to experience all 50 states even if I can’t physically travel there.
I’ve been working my way through the states alphabetically, and am quickly approaching the “N’s” and New Jersey! Since I’m originally from Georgia – I’m hoping your readers can chime in on what sweet they think represents New Jersey or is a unique specialty of the Garden State. Since Hoboken is a melting pot for people from all over the US, I would love input on any other state as well!

What do you think? Can Hoboken lend me a hand on this one?
By the way, sorry to bring all of these carbs and sugar to your attention!
Thanks so much!
