Out of control driver
31
July
Over the live police scanner now..
Some rental van/truck has hit multiple parked cars along Hudson St. between 3rd and 2nd, reportedly driving away.
One officer indicated the cars near 2nd and Hudson were “demolished”.
They found the driver a few minutes ago, and he didn’t even have a real license.
Where’d he learn how to drive? Cooking school?

Geez. You can rent everything. You can rent-a-van for moving, rent-a-home for living, and rent-a-husband for handywork.
But why can’t noobs like this rent-a-brain for existence?

This further goes to justify the $2,100 I pay out / year for parking in a garage. I’m not saying the garage is perfect by any means, but there is less risk associated.
You really do get what you pay for in this town. I feel really bad for the people who had their vehicles damaged in this rampage. It sucks, you should be able to park and not worry about this stuff, but honestly, it happens all too often.

I was just ranting yesterday, re a U-Haul truck side swiping a car whilst driving in Hoboken… Is this becoming an epidemic??
As if street parking isn’t hard enough as it is…

One of the city lots between 3rd and 2nd. It’s $175 a month, and I have no problem with the folks there. If you want in that garage, you have to start out at the one on 2nd street, between river and hudson, and then after some arbitrary time, you’ll get moved up one.
I can’t say it’s super cheap, but even if I were to get a mirror knocked off once every other month parking on the street, at $400 a pop, you can see how a spot could pay for itself. (yes, I know, buy the parts off ebay, but you’d be amazed at list price of some of these parts!)

1800/year at Hudson between 3rd and 4th. Absolutely worth the 14 years on the waiting list.

hey 411…you got an update on this driver? did they just give him a ticket and a summons and let him go? they expect him to show up for court? got a name/address? he’s an illegal right? ever notice they won’t tell you when they arrest illegals? because they don’t want the public to know how much of the crime is caused by the illegals! isn’t witholding info akin to lying? i bet it’s thru the roof! these illegals have no SS#…no ID’s…no fingerprints…they commit a murder and we have no way to track them or find them. even if they have a criminal record in their home country we have no way of knowing it. yup, you got murderers and rapists delivering food to your front door every night. don’t forget to tip!

Yeah, I got out of the garage on 2nd at hudson, into the one on hudson btwn 2nd & 3rd… It was $50 / month cheaper ($175)… And I hear the one btwn 3rd & 4th is $150, or $125 for senior citizens (I know people who use that discount though they are far from being senior citizens)… And you can only get into that garage if you’re friends with city hall, apparently… Go figure..

Strand Tramp, what’s going on in your world today? Your assumptions are off the charts. We have no information on the driver yet already “illegals” are to blame, and now delivery people are on your shitlist. C’mon, please stop with the insinuations.

There are still 2 cars on Hudson betw. 1st and 2nd that are bashed up with parts on the ground. However, they are hardly demolished. Both definitely look drivable, but will probably need a couple grand in repairs.
They still have notes on the windshield so apparently the owners have not found them yet. Maybe they’re reading Hoboken411 and thinking, “Whew! Good thing I’m parked between 1st and 2nd on Hudson, not between 2nd and 3rd…”
I wonder if these are the same ones that were supposedly betw. 2nd and 3rd, or if these are additional ones that the truck hit.

If the driver didn’t have a “real license”, I think it safe to assume that they weren’t talking about the fact that he had a junior operator’s license…
“Not a real license” to me implies that he tried to use some sort of “Matricular Consular” or other pseudo-identification document that the Government of Mexico hands out to its exports at their consulates.
If he did not have a real license than there is no way he could have rented the truck if it was a rental truck. That tells me it was probably a professional moving truck being driven by someone who did not have a valid license because they are not a citizen.

Very well could be. It could also be a citizen with a suspended license, or a citizen who didn’t have their license with them, or a citizen who doesn’t have a license.
