While Hoboken is nowhere nearly as noisy as our big NYC neighbor, we still have some issues. Whether it be construction noise, bar noise, garbage trucks at 3am, annoying barking dogs that yelp all day unattended in someone’s apartment, or those thundering Harley’s that rev up the street setting car alarms off.

One Hoboken411 reader wants to do something about it. Our current noise ordinance is listed here, but he feels it needs some updating.

Just this month, NYC has recently adopted a new noise ordinance for the first time in over 30 years. He gave it to the city council urging them to do something similar. He writes:

“Attached is the nice little 13 page plain language NYC Noise ordinance booklet that was presented & passed out to the City Council the other night; along with this booklet goes the almost 100 pages of the actual ordinance which can be posted if people would really like to read it. I am asking for your support for a brand new contemporarily written noise ordinance & would ask you to call or write your individual ward council members, our council people At-large & the Mayor to ask them to support a new noise ordinance and to make sure it is developed with constituent support and has real enforcement.”
