2 pedestrians struck by car

Car hits two pedestrians at 12th & Washington in Hoboken, NJ

Shortly after 7pm tonight, two pedestrians were struck by a 2004 Kia with New York plates at the intersection of 12th and Washington Streets.

From the looks of the scene, the car was traveling straight on Washington, and according to HPD, the driver was in good standing. Unsure if the driver ran a red light or not, but based on how pedestrians just ignore the traffic signals at every intersection on a daily basis (even with baby strollers), the betting man would lean towards pedestrian entitlement or drunk walking!

The two female victims were taken to HUMC by the Hoboken Volunteer Ambulance Corps. The injuries did not appear life-threatening.

Never understood the rush to the other side of the street. An obvious human shortcoming because it happens all the time.

SO well put 411.. what is it with hoboken residents just waltzing into the street. The don’t even look both WAYS! I always wondered what would happen in a situation like this. The Hoboken Zombie crossing the street was probably at fault and now this poor Shmoe probably has to pay BIGTIME because he couldn’t SLAM on his breaks quick enough.

Is it me or does this car look like it is on the wrong side of the road? I guess it could have, and probably did swerve to avoid the people.
SO well put 411.. what is it with hoboken residents just waltzing into the street. Affirmative. That car’s location is a little suspect.
Is it me or does this car look like it is on the wrong side of the road? I guess it could have, and probably did swerve to avoid the people.
hmm,.. not sure. I too would bet he may have tried to avoid hitting them if that were the case,.. but is a play on the eyes,.. he’s far from the curb because up ahead is that section of Washington where the cars park slanted (uptown). In any event, it’s nice to hear the girls didnt have serious injuries. This could have been much worse,.. look both ways folks.

LOVE IT ” the betting man would lean towards pedestrian entitlement or drunk walking!”…….When will they realize that they will lose every battle with a 2000lb car. I love the people whom think they have the right of way to cross at a green traffic light as well…..Really?

@mantra – The car was on the proper side of the road – the perspective of the photo may be throwing you off.
