V’s Barbershop coming to 1114 Washington St. in Hoboken, NJ

As Hoboken411 told you in the Doomed Fast Frame page – a new men’s barbershop is coming to 1114 Washington Street in 2012: V’s Barbershop.

V’s Barbershop is a franchise with 15 locations, and offers typical men’s grooming services like hair cuts, shaves, facials, as well as beard and moustache trimmings. They’re kid-friendly, too – and even offer “father & son” packages with a discount.

This now completes the infamous Hoboken Trifecta (or as some say Bermuda Triangle) of similar establishments. Within a few short blocks, there will now be THREE men’s barbershops (D&V’s and The Hoboken Man Salon are also nearby).

Description: Full Service Men’s Barbershop.
Address: 1114 Washington Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030
Phone: 201-942-9559

Franchise barber shops always left me feeling underwhemed – especially if they try to sell me high-margin hair care products before I leave.

When I walk into a place I’ve never been and I get an old Italian guy asking “how would you like-a da hair? Ah?” (and the occasional pile of dog-eared Time and Playboy issues by the seats) I know I can sit back in confidence that I won’t leave looking like I cut it myself. Alas, that generation is dying out.

The pics on V’s website seemed to paint the picture that this is what we’ll expect (sans magazines). I hope they can pull it off instead of being just another franchise with endless high turnover of scissor wielders with over teased hair and accents you’ve never heard before.

Another barbershop? How many does Hoboken need? My husband has been going to First St barber forever and his cuts were so good I go now. I literally put my finders through his hair to see if the haircut was even once and the precision was unbelievable. I was impressed. I went in with him one Saturday and found the guy he uses, Jesse came from a high end NYC salon so I asked if he did women too and he said yes. What the hell – gave it a try and now go also. I get a NYC salon style at barber shop prices which means I can go more often. Best kept Hoboken secret. 😛
Franchise barber shops always left me feeling underwhemed – especially if they try to sell me high-margin hair care products before I leave. When I walk into a place I’ve never been and I get an old Italian guy asking “how would you like-a da hair? Another Hoboken business startup that will be closing its doors in 6 months. Don’t people do business feasibility studies before opening a business anymore?

The Hoboken Zoning Board was instructed to allow competing chain businesses top open in close proximity to existing BnR businesses to drive them out.

john 14 D@V barber shop has been on washington st for over 60 years.plus you have a few hair dresser salons and nail joints on the same block.. with the staff that D@V has gonna be tough to drive the two brothers out of business after all these years. Now you must consider the crew in the zoning dept and put 2+2 together..You could not get better service than at D@Vs with a reputation of over 60 years..More to this sereniro…
The Hoboken Zoning Board was instructed to allow competing chain businesses top open in close proximity to existing BnR businesses to drive them out.
