HPU Misconduct: Time for Sacs to be fired?

Letter: Ian Sacs has to go – enough is enough!

One Hoboken411 reader who wishes to remain anonymous, is sick and tired of the corruption and favoritism at city hall, especially with Ian Sacs and the Hoboken Parking Utility.

Like Joe Paterno – Sacs should be canned for doing nothing

“Fire Sacs! Parking is worse than it’s ever been. The parking fees and unfair ticketing along with the sexual misconduct and abuse within the department prove that the HPU is nothing more than a continuing saga of corruption. Corruption reformer style. If this list isn’t evidence enough to kick that man to the curb, then it’s just further proof that our city is run by a bunch of morons:

 1. Sexual harassment at the HPU. A civil suit filed this week said that inappropriate responses to the culture of sexual harassment in the utility and complaints to Director Ian Sacs were only redirected back to the source of the complaints. Sacs was willfully indifferent, despite knowing what harassment was taking place. THIS IS THE SAME AS JOE PATERNO (minus the respect and decades of love and admiration). Even the Daily News is suggesting that lack of action in sex abuse cases is grounds for incarceration.
 2. Criminal parking enforcement tactics are being used to defraud residents and visitors out of hard-earned money. The city didn’t even want bumbling Ian Sacs to comment on Fox 5 News last week, and instead recruited Mayor Zimmer to bumble in his place.
 3. Sacs has other violent history within the city of Hoboken, yet another story brushed under the rug by the administration. It looks like he may have problems with minorities in my opinion.
 4. Totally inept at managing his department, and is costing the taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars in overtime each month. You can watch the meetings online every couple weeks to see what I mean.
 5. Corner Car Lies. Remember the promise that a minimum of 750 new parking spots would be created by those hourly rental go-karts? What a LIAR. Parking worse than ever!

Do you think the city is inappropriately “protecting” the friends they hired?

Didn’t Al Arezzo ultimately lose his job for refusing to take part in a mandatory sexual harrassment seminar? So the mayor institutes the seminar but in your mind did not do enough? There is only so much she can do. If it was reported and ignored then we have a problem. I doubt very much it was swept under the rug. It is no secret the mayor is trying to hire better people. This would have been a perfect opportunity to shed BNRs, I mean HHA residents, I mean, below average employees.

Keep it up gazzosdriver. The more you insult the bnrs the less likely Zimmer will win again.
Didn’t Al Arezzo ultimately lose his job for refusing to take part in a mandatory sexual harrassment seminar? “below average employees?” There goes the Mayor and all her Directors. Kick them all to the curb.
Didn’t Al Arezzo ultimately lose his job for refusing to take part in a mandatory sexual harrassment seminar? You’re asking if he’s been fired? What you should be asking is “did he lose his case”? ….now isn’t that more accurate spin doctor?
Didn’t Al Arezzo ultimately lose his job for refusing to take part in a mandatory sexual harrassment seminar? I call bull.

Zimmer isn’t hiring better people. Ian Sacs isn’t even qualified to manage a department and be a Director of a Parking Utility. And his inept, unprofessional behavior has proven that. Sacs is crap. But then we have an unqualified dimwit as Mayor, so it’s no surprise that City Hall reeks of incompetence.
Didn’t Al Arezzo ultimately lose his job for refusing to take part in a mandatory sexual harrassment seminar? Yes that minimum two hour charge for a run-in-run out says it all. I have seen signs in Jersey city where the residents are in protest of these muni-meters. It is difficult especially for store owners whose business will go elsewhere. It is less expensive/less hassle to go to a store in another town 5-10 minutes away.

I don’t know the overriding code off hand -but I have won tickets in other towns where there is no explicit sign that you need to use a mini-meter nor are there individual signs at each meter post that is to indicate the same. Hard to believe the vendor would allow incorrect implementation. (Yeah I know it’s all about the money)

JMPO don’t know if it is time for Sacs to be terminated, but a suspension for the bus caper would have been in order. The allegations of said employee are in compliance with a sexual harassment class that was given last year, as far as I know what Mr. Arezzo is guilty of was requesting the time of the classes to be changed so that his inspectors could do their jobs and then attend classes. As of now Mr. Arezzo appears to be ahead of the game with his lawsuit, don’t know if that is true either. In any case Mr. Sacs should be given the right to a hearing as well as said employee. Enough positive PR spin from Juan Melli, get to the bottom of these allegations. Whoever is in the right will come out the winner. 🙂
Nope, just calling it as I see it or… as it is.Carry on with your sonnets, whisker.
I stated that the alleged crimes at the center of each story are on completely different levels. That can not be disputed and the two stories should never have been lumped together. Are you going to tell me the fact that Joe Paterno and other PSU officials who have admitted to not going to the police ad covering up this horrible eyewitness account (and therefore letting the abuse continue) is the same as the city’s handling of a sexual harassment complaint? Your hatred for a stupid small city mayor is blinding you. There is more to the world than the square mile known as Hoboken. The mayor is an idiot. Great. At least she hasn’t been indicted like the other morons that many of the people on this site helped elect over the years. This site is becoming a joke.

Well, I still tend to disagree. The similarity is that both are being accused of “willfull indifference” yet Paterno has been fired and Sacs has not. Neither has been before a judge or had a trial. THAT is the point of the above story. Nothing else. Also in your reply you stated the mayor being “an idiot”. Am I to assume you hate her too? Of course not. So don’t assume that I hate her either. I don’t hate anyone. I find her incompetent, a liar, self-centered, self-destructive, boring, unqualified, unprofessional, uncaring, spiteful, and anything but transparant– but I don’t hate her. And you consider her better because she hasn’t been indicted? The term moron could apply to you too if that’s the case. The others were’t considered morons either when this town voted for them, but then, they got caught! This admin is constatly calling foul, and screaming they are being condenmed—and it’s usually the people who scream and whine the loudest that have the most to hide. And lastly, this is my home, I served to protect and defend it—and now in my later years if I can’t enjoy it than who the hell cares what goes on in the rest of the world!
I stated that the alleged crimes at the center of each story are on completely different levels. There are pages upon pages of crap against Penn State. Dispute them all you want. I wouldn’t but hey, you have the floor to make a fool out of yourself.

Similarly, there are pages upon pages, and videos, of crap against Hoboken. And it is a disgrace that something like sexual harassment (among other activities, like theft) isn’t being dealt with.

Bottom line, I don’t see what Hoboken411 did or said wrong. The fact is our administration should be just as ashamed as Penn State.
