What do you get when you stop by Northern Soul on their Grand Opening night, take only 12 quick segments of video, and leave after two beers towards the next destination?
Another quality Hoboken411 video production:

Stop by for a beer soon. You’d be pleased with their diverse selection of tap and bottled beers, unlike most typical taverns.

3/19/2008 Update:
Ok, not breaking news (who ever said 411 was a newspaper anyway?), but the old Quiet Woman quietly has new owners, and will be changing the name to “Northern Soul.” While that sounds more like a band name, I’m sure they wanted to establish a new identity for the place.
From what I heard, some renovations are planned to spruce up the place, and have already even installed a new red felt on the pool table.

Services - Bar, jukebox, darts, pool table, live music.
Address - 557 1st St, Hoboken, NJ 07030

Is it a new bar or a new awning?

You can change the sign, but this place still has the same old red nosed irish drunks….
66. strand tramp | June 5th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
i haven’t noticed any red noses. and i have been in there and i’m not irish. but since it is an irish owned establishment i suppose it would not be surprising to find some with irish ancestory among the patrons, as well as some nationals. by your comment i’ll assume you won’t be dragging your stench in the door, and for that i thank you.

Place has been eeeeeempty. Walked by on a Saturday night and there were 8 people at the most in there(incl bartenders).

Place was PACKED on the Grand Opening! Hope these guys can make it. They seem to really care about the bar and their customers. Big change from the previous owners.
It may seem like an odd recommendation… but you HAVE to try their agave margaritas!!!

Place is actually ok, although, I did notice some of the old patrons of the Quiet Woman there the other night. Not only did it need a makoever, it needed new customers. They were probably the worst part about the old Quiet Woman, old, weird, stuck in some college warp.
Oh well, good luck new guys.

Really, an empty bar on a Saturday night during the summer? who would have thought.

I was there Thurs. for the opening party and the space looks much better than it used to. Good selection of same uncommon European beers, though the choice of domestics is, strangely, sparse.
The bathrooms are still atrocious, really bad. They threw a candle in there to offset the mildew coming from the walls.
No real specials to speak of on opening night, which I thought was weak. It was $10 or $12 for a pitcher of Bud Light or something, but nothing for the good beers that they should be trying to promote.
