Hoboken City Council Meeting of September 7, 2011

Another Hoboken City Council meeting tonight. Some quick points:

  • Spending money like it’s going out of style. Council members boast “fully funded budgets,” yet they continue BONDING beyond the scope of any budget. This week includes $3 million bucks for “home improvement” style upgrades for city hall, the police department and other expenditures like phone wires, traffic lights and street sweepers. This adds to future tax bills for the next mayor and council to deal with.
  • More legal contracts, useless newspaper ads, appointments, and even requests to remove some individuals “for cause.”
  • Less parking on Friday, September 16, 2011. The city is participating in National PARK(ING) Day. Since open space is so difficult to implement, they’re allowing RESIDENTS to set up make-shift “parks” in public street parking spaces instead.
