Hoboken Police & Fire Blotter: 8/1/2011

Hoboken crime and fire action: August 1, 2011

Various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls for August 1, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.

  • 1:45pm: More stolen FedEx and UPS boxes
HPD received calls that a black male, white t-shirt, grey Kangol hat, black shorts – took several delivery boxes from near 2nd & Willow. He placed them in a “gift bag” and fled the scene. HPD searching for the man now. Your boxes are HIS gifts! Jeez!
  • (Yesterday 7/31/2011 @ 5:15pm): Parents suspect creepy man
Concerned parents at Church Square Park called HPD about “a man sitting on the park bench pretending to read the paper – but looking at kids.” Three officers ran the guy through they system. Thank God a group of creepy dudes didn’t call police because “a top member of the local press was taking pictures of creepy dudes,” because that would have been embarrassing… For them.

More updates to come…

The danger of overprotecting our children is that the will not learn to protect themselves. They will have no ability to assess risks. Maybe that has already happened.

Talk to your kids. Listen to your kids. Help them develop the skills needed to be safe. That is what will protect your child.

Considering recent events including Leiby Kletzy, Celina Cass and the recently announced ‘Operation: Delego’, I’m not entirely surprised that some parents are jumpy. But by all means keep chalking it up to irrational behavior, Village Idiot, and we’ll keep chalking up your irrational responses to prolonged exposure to dog sh*t vapors.

Emarche, don’t you realize that everything bad that happens is due solely to “self-entitled,” “douchebag”parents? Clearly any parent who has the horrible experience of having their child abused by a nanny or daycare worker or babysitter is the one at fault. It was the parent who should have known that said abuser would abuse. I mean, we just “pop them out” and expect others to care for them. Really, if all of us parents just lived by the rules of the all-knowing Mooshu (who doesn’t even have kids but knows everything about good parenting), then nothing bad or inconsiderate would ever happen.
Considering recent events including Leiby Kletzy, Celina Cass and the recently announced ‘Operation: Delego’, I’m not entirely surprised that some parents are jumpy. For what it’s worth i saw the fella pictured this morning wandering CSP. It was about 7AM. So probably just a drifter. I’m suddenly seeing an influx of campers in that park again. The tide was out for a while. Could be the heat. Also a fella with dreads was mentioned on the police blotter a week ago. I think i have seen this guy a few times too since then.

As mother I know not all parents knee jerk reactionists. There is a reason some are. When you hear about a tragedy in the news, you start trying to figure out how prevent it from happening to you. Actions motivated by fear are rarely rational.

Here is great blog about raising kids without irrational fear.

westcoastbound, since you’re such a grown-up (a-hole but I digress), you should be able to read and comprehend that ordinary single people, without kids, are in fact targets at local parks. They’ve been spotlighted right here, on 411, on several occasions.

Being accused of stalking or ogling kids when one is doing no such thing to what you perceive to be your “precious little ones” should be a crime. There are stories about teachers in schools even who are accused of crossing boundaries when they’ve done no such thing. After much crapping on their reputations, and a stupidly long legal process, some walk away as innocent as they originally were. But the truth remains that it is ridiculous to be charged with something like this, whether you like it or not. It is unfair, and I honestly cannot wait until someone retaliates with a lawsuit. Because it IS wrong. You don’t deserve an entire park, OK? Sorry, hag.

You are simply moronic. Just simply asinine. And you are so intensely stupid that you think you’ve responded smartly. You are a fucking idiot, mooshu. Call me a “hag” all you like. You are simply as dumb as a box of rocks. Nobody deserves an entire park and nobody said so. You make things up constantly and then get mad and madder and madder about what you’ve imagined. Paranoid schizophrenic? Maybe. After years of following your insane, asinine comments, I think you might want to seek some help. Making up perceived faults and then defending them to the death is a very bad sign for your already intensely weak mental capacity.
westcoastbound, since you’re such a grown-up (a-hole but I digress), you should be able to read and comprehend that ordinary single people, without kids, are in fact targets at local parks. I’m with BklynHobo, the voice of reason on here for sure.

However, I do think the city is to blame, actually, for taking entitled Stroller Nazis seriously and supporting the notion that Hoboken belongs to them on the basis of their super-extra-special ability to procreate and show off Junior while checking their voicemail. What the city is doing is essentially enabling these creatures to control public– P-U-B-L-I-C– parks intended for usage by everyone. Everyone means you, me, and the guy reading his paper that maaaybe could have been watching kids play. Maybe.

It’s only a matter of time. You can’t continue to take others’ rights away from them in order to fulfill the expectations of certain parents in town. If parks are meant for kids only, fine, but there is a need for signs and laws for this kind of privilege and for denying others their right to relax in the park.

Makes me wish I had a few million to toy with. I’d build a park that doesn’t allow a-hole parents and their kids.

I have not had the privilege of viewing Hoboken411 for the past six weeks as apparently, at least from one foreign country, the website does not allow visitors. Both my husband and I tried to access the site but permission was not granted from the country we were in. Anyway, upon returning to the United States and checking the site, I’m glad to see that mooshu is still posting nonsense. No one is taking the rights of anyone else away in the parks. Hoboken is full of people–married, single, young, old, childless, parents, homeless, etc. Everyone uses the parks and generally, everyone gets along fine. Of course there are disputes here and there, as there will be in any urban setting in which people share their outdoor space. On the whole, Hoboken does pretty well and so do the Hoboken Police. By the way, using the word Nazi in conjunction with parents you don’t like who push strollers–even those who are inconsiderate–shows your incredible lack of depth, naivete, insensitivity, and beyond all else–juvenile mind. I know you won’t understand that, mooshu. But grown-ups do understand it. Glad to be back!!!!
Yeah, mooshu. He is. We both use this website to see what’s going on in the town we pay exorbitant property taxes to. We enjoy getting some news about the old homestead. And he and I have discussed the inanity of your posts more than a few times. So if that was supposed to be an insult–FAIL.
I’m sure your husband is glad you’re back on the 411 scene, too!!
I prefer to think of what I said not as an insult but as the truth.

You both pay exorbitant property taxes?

:: Cueing violins and weeping for you both ::

G’night westcoastbound. Don’t forget your dosage!
Yeah, mooshu. He is. We both use this website to see what’s going on in the town we pay exorbitant property taxes to. Everyone who owns property in Hoboken pays exorbitant property taxes. You stupid dumbass. I’m not asking for sympathy about my property taxes. It’s simply the truth. Not that you’d have any idea.
Prefer what you like. You wouldn’t know truth if it hit you in the face. Now, go get the help you so desperately need.
westcoast..advise..Don’t waist time with mother goose who is hancuffed to the keyboard and survives on dog food and frozen microwave food..lonley and angry.. I must say that Hoboken is and was never a resort area..How many parks do these ding dongs need to repcalate their former surroundings in a town a bit larger than Central Park? This town is not NYC…no San Diego on weekend pass as well as Mardi gras in New Orleans..As you noticed taxes will never go down..Ask what taxes homeowners pay in bergin county,Passiac, and ocean county shore areas, multi multi higher then here.Ask what the police earn in ridgewood and the shore area just as a starting pay? Now the parking utilitys wuss wants residents to sell their cars and buy a huffy or road runner bike..1600 people dumped their cars already..Forget the culture of corruption in the past and look at the culture of stupidty with this cabanet…To add to the mess this cupcake wants speical cops class two part time to work for 12.00 dollars per hr and then turn in their weapons upon compleating their tour.less benifits..The chief said he does not have the man power..In two years its become a cluster f***k with the wacko bunch in power..Always remember the promise was taxes will decrease.two years ago..right and the easter bunny is real. hang in there west coast 😕
Everyone who owns property in Hoboken pays exorbitant property taxes.
