Hoboken crime and fire action: July 23, 2011
An ongoing list of various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls throughout the day for Saturday July 23, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.
Crimes, Incidents, Fire Calls & Vehicular mishaps
- 4:45am (7/24/2011): Urban Brush Fire
HFD is reporting a “small brush fire” near 3rd & Sinatra Drive. Probably some cigarette butt (or a pyro homeless guy).
- 2:45am (7/24/2011): Hoboken Fight Night
As the bars let out tonight – some angry peeps causing trouble! Fights reported at Green Rock, 2nd & Wash, 2nd & Hudson and City Bistro. Probably more to come tonight. HPD is short-staffed again, and cannot respond as quickly as they’d like.
- 12:20am (7/24/2011): La Bouche Cafe Robbed!
HPD received calls about “glass breaking” at 103 Garden Street (the home of the new La Bouche Cafe). They reported that cash register was stolen (just like La Bella Vista Pizza last week). A disturbing new crime trend in Hoboken – and yet another reason why cutting our police force was downright stupid (and now clearly more costly to taxpayers.)
- 11:40pm: St. Ann’s Faint-Fest
Hoboken EMS en route to the area of the St. Ann’s Italian Festival – reports of a woman “near fainting.” Hydration, baby, hydration. Solves a lot of problems before they occur.
- 11:10pm: Foot-long F’idiot
Intoxicated male causing a ruckus inside Blimpie at 110 Washington Street. Why would delicious food make anyone angry?
- 10:45pm: Vehicular accident involving HFD
Apparently, returning from a false alarm fire call – Hoboken Fire Department was involved in a minor accident near 13th & Garden Streets. Vegas odds 3 to 1 it was some kind of illegally parked car.
- 7:15pm: Cake Boss Fainting
Reports of a 12-year old kid that fainted at Carlo’s Bakery. Not sure how this could happen to such a healthy youth. Star struck? Heat? Too many calories?
- 12:15pm: Pedestrian Struck
A person struck by a car at 3rd & Bloomfield. I still don’t get how this happens. Really, I don’t.
More to come later…
