O’Donoghue’s to close after 25 years in Hoboken

Seems that Irish Pub O’Donoghue’s is calling it quits this year, and is shutting down on June 1st according to this flier / announcement.

Will it get bought out and taken over? Or just converted to more condos?

$15 is way too much to charge for Bud Light. That stuff is horrible.

If someone can do a major overhaul, clean it up, put in a better design of the space, and make it into something more like a wine bar/restaurant would work well at that part of town. Or, at the very least, an improved look like they did at McSwiggan’s.

Good location but a total hole, not even dive bar level. Redone it could be a serious earner

The story I have on this place is that the guy who’s there most of the time, Vinny is a partial owner and runs it for the old man that’s owned it for years. Vinny is a really cool dude and hopefully he’ll be able to profit from the change.

You’re right, though, it’s always the same couple guys in there unless it’s a weekend.

It’s a hole and it needs a serious overhaul. The upside is that the place is *huge*. Far bigger than most other bars in the whole city.

The guy who owns Fillipo’s on First was supposed to open something in the one side of the bar that’s usually closed. I wonder if he’s still involved or it’s now being taken over by other people?

Last time I was there about 4-5 months ago on a thursday night there were literally 2 other people in there who seemed to be friends of the bartender.
