Hoboken crime and fire action: May 2, 2011
Various noteworthy incidents, crimes and fire-calls for Monday, May 2, 2011. This post may be updated and “bumped” periodically.
- 11:53pm: Bomb a dud
After two and a half hours dealing with the “beeping package,” this so-called bomb most likely turned out to be nothing serious. Note to people: Bombs usually tick and beep – only on TV and in movies like MacGruber.
- 11:53pm: Passed out female
A woman reportedly passed out in front of Energy Kitchen on Hudson Street. Hope it wasn’t the burgers!
- 9:53pm: Drunk passes out
A drunk customer was refused entrance to the Madison Bar at 14th & Washington – and decided to lay down and pass out in front of the establishment instead.
- 9:30pm: Beeping Mailbox
Hoboken Police & Fire – as well as Jersey City Bomb Squad investigating a “beeping mailbox” at 84 Washington Street.

- 7:50pm: Fire Investigation
Hoboken Fire Dept. received a call from 911 that there was a fire in the building at 326 Bloomfield Street. They’re investigating now – but seems like it may have been unfounded.
- 6:45pm: Irate Female causes commotion at Monroe Center
An off-duty Hoboken Police Officer reported hearing a commotion & broken glass at the Monroe Center at 720 Monroe Street. People were supposedly coming out of the building “choking.” As HPD arrived on scene, it turned out to be an “irate female” who punched a window out.
