Yuck! What is that oozing black sludge at Cake Boss?
Hoboken resident Hano (known as one of the Knucklead comics) – noticed this industrial truck in front of Carlo’s Bakery yesterday – and thought “is that how they pump all the cake frosting in?”
Upon further inspection – this truck was covered with black sludge – “EERC” – Environmental Energy Recycling Corporation, and it was apparently sucking some rather disgusting material from the bakery famous for the Cake Boss reality TV program.
Funny enough, the website of this recycling company is “Grease5.com,” and it makes me wonder – why does a bakery have so much grease?

Yeah, I know spent cooking oil gets recycled, but to see it being pumped out like that it pretty sick. I didn’t even know they deep fry stuff at Cake Boss!

Has anyone seen the awning for the Old German Bakery, between 3rd and 4th on Washington? I don’t know when it’s supposed to open but, if there’s good quality, it’ll be nice to have one more option in town. I refuse to stand in lines that go past CVS just to get some pastries.

When you buy baked potato chips, do you expect them to be fried? Why do they call it Carlo’s Bake shop then? Why not Carlo’s Deep Fried Shop? Or Carlo’s Bake, Fry and Suck shop?
I can’t wait till the German Bake Shop opens too!

Ugh. Un-thinking-icty wins the day on the comments page.
Lots of what people love to eat, including the posters here, is fried. Yes, cannolis, donuts, zeppolis, etc. So, if you eat it, where do you think the leftover oil goes? Into the Hudson River? Magically vanished away by the FryOil Fairy? Nay. A truck cleans out the supply (which should be large for a professional fryer), and away it goes.
There. Sorry to break the magical spell for you. If it gets fried then eventually the oil has to go. If not into the trash (fire hazard) or into the pipes (clogging hazard) then it must be hauled away by another means. There goes your fantasy with it.
