New Cartoon: Hobroken
Hobroken: A new Hoboken411 cartoon by Ricardo Roig
Ricardo is a fantastic artist – who covers traditional paintings, and as you’ll see here on 411 – pretty funny & observational cartoons as well!
About Ricardo Roig
“I moved to Hoboken 3 years ago to pursue my art. I am a NJ certified art teacher K-12 with BFA in painting and an emerging professional fine artist.
After selling nearly all of my paintings at the Fall Hoboken Arts & Music Festival this past September, and in November selling all of my work through the Hoboken Studio Tour, I now have professional representation in Hoboken’s premier art gallery, Right Angle. Three months ago I purchased a street vendors license and now my art has moved from the street to the gallery and into the homes of many local residents.
My art allows me to express and understand my emotions in hopes of finding peace. I hope my art uplifts, sometimes challenges people to think, but always reminds us of our shared humanity in this natural world for which we are all born into.
I put my heart into my art. I call my business “‘heARTwork.” Painting, drawing, sculpting, and printmaking are my elevated forms of language and communication. My images come from life, dreams, visions, but are always experienced through a specific space and atmosphere.
I represent these experiences in my artwork, a representation of my world. We certainly do live in our own worlds. Let me show you mine.
“Hobroken” started as a way to express my everyday experiences through visual humor. Creating fine art is a very serious endeavor. Drawing these comics will allow me to comment on my growing Hoboken experiences and draw from them a universal way to communicate with others, especially my neighbors.
“Hobroken” will allow me to take a break from my fine art making and allow me to have an outlet for my humor, which is also a large part of my personality. Please enjoy, I will always try to keep you checking in! Also, please feel free to visit my website (RicardoRoig.com) for upcoming art shows and for more information regarding my art making. Thank you to my mother, my girlfriend, my family, Geri Fallo, Pablo from Right Angle, Perry from Hoboken411 for this opportunity, and all my local early supporters.”
