Havens Savings Bank & local pizza expansion
Haven Savings Bank allows Grimaldis to expand
Gives Hoboken business owner a “bigger piece of the pie…”
Haven Savings Bank, an independent, community bank that’s been servicing the northern NJ area for more than seventy years, joined the owners of Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in the opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of the restaurant’s second location in Hoboken, NJ last week.
With financing provided by Haven Saving’s Bank Commercial Lending Group, the popular local restaurant recently opened at its 411 Washington Street location to better serve its loyal customers.
Ranked by Hoboken Zagat’s for the last 10 years as the #1 pizzeria in Hoboken, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria of 133 Clinton Street is the only coal brick-oven pizzeria in town and has been providing delicious meals to local residents since 1995.
“We actively seek commercial loans in our market area and we especially like to work with business owners in our hometown of Hoboken,” said Donald R. Salmon, Vice President and Senior Commercial Lender of Haven Savings Bank. “When John and Bernadette McHugh came to us, we were immediately comfortable as lenders not only because of their business knowledge and experience of running a business in Hoboken, but also because we know that their food is loved by so many. We were confident that a second location of Grimaldi’s would flourish and we are so glad to have been able to help the McHugh’s bring the new Grimaldi’s to the residents of Hoboken.”
Designed by Meghan Bashaw of Meghan Bashaw Interiors, LLC, the new restaurant offers a warm and inviting upscale, but casual environment, boasting two large dining areas, a full bar – equipped with several flat screens TV’s- as well as the restaurant’s trademark coal-fired brick oven that gives Grimald’s pizza its unique, smokey flavor and crisp crust.
Grimald’s oven was constructed by Mr. McHugh himself, who started his career in the restaurant business by building brick ovens for other businesses. Since its opening in 1995, Grimaldi’s has pleased the pallets of thousands of restaurant-goers and has even been featured on the Food Network as well as in the Daily Record and other local papers.
The ribbon cutting ceremony of the new location took place on Tuesday, December 7th. The original location of Grimaldi’s at 133 Clinton St. will remain open.
