Hoboken Breakfast Nuggets: 10/20/2010

10/20/2010:

What’s on the radar on this hump day?

MLB Playoffs looking grim for Yanks; Phils also down

Imagine how boring the World Series would be in the tri-state area if it’s Texas vs. San Francisco?

Well at least half of that potential scenario is looking quite possible – as Texas once again trounced the injured NY Yankees 10-3 last night. Their hopes are slim now with at least one more game against ace Cliff Lee. Mark Teixeira, who hurt his hamstring yesterday probably agrees. The Philadelphia Phillies aren’t in as bad a situation being down only 2 games to 1 – but you never know!

Occhipinti to hold downtown traffic meeting Thursday

Whether you live in the 4th Ward of Hoboken or not, you might be interested in a meeting Council Candidate Tim Occhipinti is holding at his campaign HQ on Thursday, October 21st at 8pm. He wants to hear from residents about the ongoing safety and traffic issues that seem to be a constantly ignored problem in Hoboken.

Birthday Thanks

Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday yesterday. As always, I was too busy to really even acknowledge… but I fully appreciate it nonetheless! I’ll probably take a delayed birthday weekend break sometime in the near future. I still feel like I’m 17. Amazing!

Please join Tim TONIGHT for an important meeting to discuss Traffic, Public Transportation and Parking in the 4th ward. Tim’s campaign headquarters is on the corner of one of the worst intersections in Hoboken. He knows first hand how bad the situation is, and is working to fix it. The meeting begins at 8pm at Occhipinti Headquarters at 56 Monroe Street. Occhipinti: Monroe Street intersection needs a traffic cop Hoboken 4th Ward City Council candidate Tim Occhipinti called for the city to station a traffic cop on the corner of Monroe Street and Observer Highway to move traffic through the area and protect pedestrians. He said residents have been complaining about traffic conditions at the intersection for some time, with no help from the city. “This is a rush-hour traffic nightmare that needs a traffic cop immediately,” said Occhipinti, who will meet this week with Hoboken PD traffic officials to discuss traffic safety in the area. “After we started raising the issue again last week, city hall sent workers in to repaint the lines. It’s not the lines that are the problem, it’s a lack of proper traffic enforcement! What good is a new stop line if everyone blows right through it?” Occhipinti said a regular traffic cop is not a long-term solution, but would send a message to motorists and residents that the city is serious about making the area safe. “We saw two drivers almost get into a fist fight last week because one made an illegal turn.… Read more »

Sorry I can’t make it. I have to work overtime to pay for Mike Lenz’s health benefits so he can stick another $4500 in his back pocket. Best of luck.[quote comment=”199058″]Please join Tim TONIGHT for an important meeting to discuss Traffic, Public Transportation and Parking in the 4th ward. It’s about time somebody does something about the 4th ward traffic situation. Lenz hasn’t done anything. Soares lives right there. He was the on the council for 6 years and never did anything about it.

Happy belated birthday Mr. 411!

I think it would be a refreshing change for some new teams in the World Series.

Somewhat ironic – I was wondering for a second why you were talking about two New York teams from other sports.[quote comment=”198986″]Maybe for Rangers and Giants fans.
