New lunch truck just for pigeons!

8/27/2010:

Pickup full of bread attracts birds from across NJ

Hoboken411 reader Bobby spotted this pickup truck in front of Antique Bakery the other day, and said it was one amazing spectacle.

The truck, which was filled with old bread that the bakery was disposing of (and thankfully not delivering to restaurants!) was left unattended and word got out quickly to area pigeons, who flocked over for the feeding frenzy. He said at one point at least 100 pigeons were going nuts over the bread.

Let’s hope this “lunch truck for pigeons” doesn’t make regular appearances in crowded areas!

Guess what folks… This has been going on for years. I’ve seen this truck with pigeons on it before. It’s much worse if you see it in person. I agree with Pawzclawz, the bread should be donated. There are plenty of shelters in Hudson County that would appreciate the bread, that is if the pigeons don’t get to it first.

This is an incredible photo. Thanks for sending it in and posting it.

I wonder where this bread was headed to get disposed of?

That is disgusting. The truck should have had a cover for the bread. The bread should not have been discarded. That is just a thoughtless waste. If the bread was covered, instead of being thrown away,it could have been brought to the homeless shelter etc.

Good lord—It’s should be some sort of violation not having this truck tarp covered. Imagined what’s dropped in the streets as he travels?
