Hoboken Wine House

Wine House Hoboken – 1100 Washington Street

What was once referred to as “Price King Liquor Beer & Wine” will now be called “Hoboken Wine House” once renovations are complete.

This corner property at 11th & Washington was once for sale (over $4 million), and included the whole kit & caboodle. Liquor license for ground level retail store as well as nine rental units above.

Does changing the kind of alcohol one drinks (liquor vs. beer vs. wine) change the level of sophistication when inebriated? Or are “drunks just drunks” no matter what the delivery method? Does this make it “appear” on the surface that Hoboken is becoming more upscale?

I seem to recall this was the building that had a fire, not long after Helmer’s burned. If I remember rightly, the apt. where the fire started had a huge weed-growing operation going, behind a false wall. (Can only imagine the contact-high for the neighbors.) And that Michael Cricco (former 5th Ward Councilman), preceded the HFD at the scene & used a fire extinguisher.

Unless there was significant renovation of the apts., post-fire, what I’ve seen of the residential units there is “nothing to write home about.”
