Special Spring Promotion on Cat Adoptions at LHS

Waives adoption fees for adult cats during May and June…

“In an effort to ease overcrowding in the shelter, Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City announces a “Special Spring Promotion” in which the adoption fee for homeless cats over the age of one year will be waived for adopters during the months of May and June. Kitten adoption fees still apply.

Through no fault of their own and due to the high intake of kittens during the spring and summer months, many healthy, happy adult cats are overlooked by adopters. The goal of this promotion is to find good homes for 100 cats during this period and LHS is hoping the community will help by adopting a forever friend from the shelter.

Adoption counselors will be available to answer questions and assist applicants in finding the ideal pet for their home and lifestyle. All adopters will receive a healthy pet that is spayed or neutered, distemper vaccinated and tested for Feline Aids and Leukemia.

“Right now we have many, many sweet, loving cats that will make excellent pets to loving families,” said Joanna Hopkinson, Executive Director. “We think this is a win/win arrangement for anyone who is thinking about adopting but who is not sure where to go to find that pet,” said Hopkinson.

A thorough screening process applies to all adoptions.

For more information email Joanna Hopkinson at Joanna@libertyhumane.org or call 201-547-4147 press 0. Liberty Humane Society is located at 235 Jersey City Boulevard in Jersey City directly across the street from the Liberty Science Center at Exit 14B off the NJ Turnpike. Adoption hours are 11 am to 4 pm Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and 11 am – 8pm Tuesday and Thursday. The shelter is closed on Wednesdays.”

Missing Norwegian Forest Cat
CoCo must have walked out of the front door on 10th and Park Avenue late at night on Saturday May 22nd.
His body is white with a dark brown mackerel colored fur on his back, a large very full tail of dark brown and black fur, weighs about 12 lbs and looks like all fur. He has never been outside.
A cat fitting his description was seen on Sunday morning in the yards between Garden and Park, between 10th and 9th.
If you see a cat that does not look like a stray, please call 201-988-6208 or 201-232-5743. REWARD!!!!!!

CoCo was found under a stoop on Willow and 10th – dirty but OK. We think he had too much fun on his adventure.[quote comment=”192690″]Aw, no ! Good luck in finding this cat and bringing him home again. I will keep my eyes peeled, too.
