Hoboken Dart Players Association

2007/2008 Dart Season starts TONIGHT!

How many of you are in this Hoboken Dart League?

Each Tuesday night, over 300 players with over 30 teams, in FOUR conferences, representing over 20 local Hoboken bars get together and play competitive darts for many hours. Some bars have two or even three teams participating.

20 bars each week serve as the “home team” for each match. This is a brilliant way to keep the local economy going. I doubt very highly that most of these locations would have as much traffic on Tuesdays if it weren’t for the Hoboken Dart League. Plus it’s a fun way to get to meet new people and hone your dart skills.

The fall season has already started, but you may want to inquire with one of these bars to see if they’re still in need of players or substitutes.

The Hoboken Dart Players Associate website is: www.hdpa.net.

Here’s a list of participating bars in Hoboken:

8th Street Tavern
Buskers
Carpe Diem
Dubliner
Duffy’s
Farside
Goldhawk
Green Rock
Liberty Bar
McSwiggan’s
Mile Square
Moran’s
Mulligan’s
Nag’s Head
Oddfellow’s
Quiet Woman
Scotland Yard
Shannon Lounge
Willie McBride’s

Anyone know if this league is still going on or when it starts up? The website seems to be down…
sounds like a good concept…would love to be proven wrong…and i hate the typical hoboken obnoxious frat boy type more than anything short of eagles and red sox fans… but from those pics…gut impression is that it doesn’t exactly seem like the most fun looking crowd. it’s a shame there’s not more socializing in hoboken on a non-immature lets-get-wasted level but still where people aren’t boring stiffs like at a sewing club.
if you’re basing your impression on 2 pictures you probably wouldn’t like golf, tennis or any other sport where spectators are expected the shut the hell up when you’re shooting. you should have shown up this past saturday for the shannon cup at the shannon. the crowd was fantastic and the scene intense. maybe the hoboken ski club is more for you, head over to mcbrides tonight and check it out(they meet there every tuesday night). I guarantee you’ll have more fun in our dart league.

The prices are ABSOLUTELY ridiculous at McSwiggans. I was a regular there for about a year because we were on that dart team, and even when we were regulars the prices were crazy. I mean, yeah, they do buy backs and stuff, but overall, there is no reason they should charge as much as they do, especially when you can walk next door to shannon or mulligans and pay less for the same experience.
They even raised their prices again in the beginning of summer too. They do have good happy hour deals though, especially on thursdays, but once the deal ends, get the hell out of there!!!
