If I remember correctly you are loOking at 2 parts of wonder bread bldg. The left side was a warehouse and some sort of rfepair shop. the right side was the bakery. I remember seeing the conveyer belt with bread on it.I think the bakery part shut down in the late 50’s. They kept up some sort of bakery operation on 14th,I can’t remember when that was shut down. On the 8th st side of the bldg there was a “day old store” where you could get a bag of twinkies and all that other great stuff for a few pesos.

whats the story with this place? When did it make Wonder Bread, when did it close etc.? Although I’ve lived here 25 years, I only recently came across this place (I’m an East Side of town kind of guy..lol.

Great shot HansBrix. I also thought Pink Floyd when I first saw it. There was a story in the paper a year or so ago about plans to convert this building to condos. Maybe the real estate market killed that idea.

I can smell the aroma of the fresh baked bread–almost.
