Where to swap baby clothes?

3/25/2010:
A place to give hardly used clothing?
Besides donating to the usual charities – Hoboken411 reader Desmond was wondering if there’s a specific place to donate barely used baby clothes to other parents in Hoboken specifically.
“Does anyone know of a place in town that would take new or only worn a few times baby clothes? Like most new parents we find our little one out growing clothes rapidly and we have no one in my family that needs them. I know there must be some new mothers in town that could use them…”

Visit the Hoboken Mom’s forum on Yahoo. Plenty of opportunities to donate, swap, etc. baby clothes on that board.

I’m having a girl in May. If you are giving away any girl clothes I will take them. Thanks

I second emarche’s suggestion. HobokenMoms is an incredible resource in this town.
Hoboken Family Alliance recently held a swap meet where you could drop off clothing in exchange for clothing, books, etc. My understanding is that this takes place every March and October, so the next one is some time away.
I know folks who sell baby stuff on Craig’s list. Not necessarily piecemeal, but more like “bag of barely used baby girl spring clothing, size 6 months,” etc.
In Jesus’ Name charity is located in Hoboken and you get a receipt for tax purposes. There is also Hudson Cradle you can donate to – I think they are located outside Hoboken, though.

Symposium?
Symposia!
And I’m not sure that they’ll take anything you give them, but it’s worth a try.

They had a toaster on the table today outside and VHS tapes. If they offer VHS tapes of Raquel Welch doing aerobics the for sure they may take kids clothing? I mean think about it Mooshu, every time anyone walks by there they have 56,803 strollers parked outside, if they didn’t take baby clothing they’d be silly. Books for mommies, clothes for kids. Makes logical sense right?

Didn’t say it didn’t make sense nor that it’s illogical. I’ve just never seen baby clothing there. But, again, totally worth a try.

A book store with a toaster is the same as a bookstore with a onesie

I think Mooshu is right. I’ve gone several times to donate books to Symposia, and each time I’ve been told, “We also take DVDs, CDs, videos, printers, monitors.” So it sounds like they take books as well as some electronic equipment (hence, the toaster). (I’ve never seen clothes there.)

Maybe it’s Symposia’s toaster on the outdoor table. Maybe they got a new toaster. Awesome. Good for them! I like toasters.
midtown, you can kick-off a new thing here. If we roll some onesies into the toaster, we can do a 4-for-one deal and sell all the items at a low price
