Downtown flood pump meeting

3/8/2010:

Wet weather pumping station design disussion

As you probably already know – the taxi stand downtown was moved to pave way for the upcoming “flooding pump,” and the city is having a little meeting tonight about it.

“The City of Hoboken announced today that it will hold a public meeting on Monday, March 8th at 7:30pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall to update the community and discuss the design of the underground wet weather pumping station which is being constructed by the North Hudson Sewerage Authority on the south side of Observer Hwy between Hudson and Washington streets.

The full amount of the estimated $14 million cost for the project will be funded by the Authority. Five million dollars of the project will come from a federal stimulus grant. The balance of $9 million will be financed through the Authority‚Äôs participation in the New Jersey State Revolving Loan Fund which provides long-term, low-interest infrastructure loans to qualified entities.”

That’s not a pump there building, it’s a safe. It’s for the County to put their money in a good hiding spot. Besides, how do you think the sewers got clogged in the first place..

Who on earth put together this press release, and did they graduate high school?

“….The full amount of the estimated $14 million cost for the project will be funded by the Authority.”

The very next sentence is a contradiction:

“Five million dollars of the project will come from a federal stimulus grant. The balance of $9 million will be financed through the Authority…”

That pumping station isn’t particularly near the worst flood zones in town. Sure hope competent engineers were involved.

I was there ..as far as public input it was a waste of my
valuable time. After hundreds of hours of complaints and letters and bringing my sick neighbors down to the hospital with dysentery in their children’s stomachs and monitoring the
“pump and pipe” sewer problems and FINALLY under POCCI and WOLFF getting our island and nasty odor here gone, a reference was made by Mr. Pocci to a past politician giving him credit for
the sewers up here. It took thirty years to get rid of that odor and it was a two year fight and the neighbors here know exactly what went on and who did what. SICKENING…more bu%$$it politics. The front of the building is a shell that needs some plants or ivy! Simple….our Mayor at least has manners, that I was surprised to see! Mr. Pocci lied for years about our uptown smell, it is gone now and the flooding and raw sewage and sickness that it caused. We are still waiting for the plants that were supposed to hide the pipes that are presently in there. They took out the everbrowns that died from the pollution
and that was even one hell of a fight. Oh, well…typical….

Wednesday Council should be interesting. Money to fix the piers
…….that might turn into a neverending price long after I am dead…Stevens might invent a boat polish that saves the day….
Two universities are already working on it. (Patents)…
Look up Keruing oil and how it kills Toredo (worms) without damaging the environment or the people who grease their wood with it…Somebody will make a fortune…not me…I sent Zip files all across the internet, Universities, Science Labs, etc..

Hope Hoboken is FIRST and in the forefront….

Margaret’s obsession with worms is entertaining.
