Napoli’s will have to wait…

1/6/2010:

A broken pizza oven is very bad news

I’m a bit upset today – for some strange reason, I had penciled “Napoli’s Pizza” (1118 Washington) in my calendar – must have been months ago. And lo behold, I cannot have any since their oven is being repaired.

So can anyone make any suggestions as a suitable replacement for tonight?

Bummer!

The thin crust pizza also loses its heat so quickly. We always heat up the pizza stone before we get Napoli’s delivered. Once you put it in the oven for a few minutes it crisps up a bit.

Another recommendation for pizza is the pizza dough at Trader Joe’s. It’s easy to work with, not to mention cheap. Throw some TJ’s pizza sauce and mozzarella on there and you have a big enough pizza that feeds 2 for around $5. Not a bad deal at all.

I beg to differ with you. I ordered Torna’s thin crust one night. I listened to a recommendation on this site. It was awful. I love Torna’s pizza, just not the thin crust.

I think their regular slice is too doughy. I like thin crispy crust. I might like Grimaldis more but consider this more gourmet then regular pizza. What other pizza do you like in Hoboken?

1. Grimaldis
2. Torna – thin Crust
3. Napolis
4. Giovannis
5. Uptown.
6. Delfinos

I don’t like getting pizza from any others. I can’t believe Impostos can sell what they call pizza.

I hate Grimaldi’s. It could be because I’ve never eaten it there. I’ve only had delivery. It’s been a horrible experience and a horrible and expensive pizza each time. I like Torna, just not thin crust LOL!. I love Napoli’s. I get a personal pizza 1/2 half white 1/2 margherita topped with chopped clams. I like Giovanni’s. I love Uptown. They use fresh mozzarella on all pizza. I don’t order from them that often. They don’t have personal pizzas. I don’t want to be stuck with it forever. If anyone from Uptown reads 411. A suggestion:start carrying personal pizzas. I like Delfino’s. I like Rosario’s. Everyone raves over Filippo’s on first. I tried their pizza once. I wasn’t impressed. It was a while back. It could have been what I ordered. I’ll give them another shot. I tried to order from them as well. The night of the blizzard. They were closed. I ended up with Chinese. I didn’t want Chinese. They will deliver in whatever the circumstance. In response to goldsoundz who said: I think their regular slice is too doughy. I like thin crispy crust. I found Filippos on first to be ok. I was not offended by it but would prefer elsewhere. The filippos on Wash was awful. I think its called something different now. Grimaldis pizza is def better reheated after delivery. My old roomate would reheat it but I was usually too impatient to wait. I also like Napolis clam pizza and never even thought to get the half and half. Does it come out good with sauce on half and all white on the other? Intriguing but usually just go with the whole thing clam. In response to pawzclawz who said: I hate Grimaldi’s. It could be because I’ve never eaten it there. I’ve only had delivery. The half white and half margherita with chopped clams comes out very good with sauce on half and white ricotta cheese on the other.

Napoli’s clam pie is terrific – I like to order the clam pie with red onions and pancetta…delicious combo.

You either have to get it there or toss it in a hot oven to crisp up the crust if you get delivery. Even better if you have a pizza brick.

A closed box is not kind to Brick oven pizza crust unless they get it to you fast.

That was the main problems.
1.Delivery took forever
2.The pizza wasn’t delievered in a closed box. It was delievered in a white paper bag.

Grimaldis hasn’t delivered in the bags in almost 5 years per my experience.

It’s been that long. If not longer since I ordered from them. I hate them.

True. Brick oven pizzas always get soggy in a box. I’ve had soggy drenched ones delivered from both Grimaldi’s and Napoli’s. Their pizzas really have to be eaten on site.

Bad news report. I too wanted pizza uptown last night, and tried that excuse for buffalo chicken next door at Molfetta.

Let’s just say that I usually sleep until 7:15 A.M. each weekday, and I’ve been up since 5:30.

Do the math.

Bad mistake. Come back, Napoli’s!

Try the old tried and true english muffin pizzas,I made some recently for my grandsons they were really good. Also those baboli premade pizza crust and not the best but, unless you can find the thin crusts ones, they are passable on a cold night.

Napolis is crap. Torna has the best pizza in town! And it’s cheap!
