More Messy Hoboken Sidewalks!

Does anyone care about our city?
Face it, while last weekend’s snow storm was very cool – we didn’t get two+ feet of snow, nor were we “crippled” as a city.
And since downtown Hoboken already got preferential treatment with the Xmas wreaths on the light poles (what are we, chopped liver uptown?) – I expected to see spectacular conditions at each and every intersection (unlike the snow mounds elsewhere). Boy was I mistaken!
What a crappy job!
- I was surprised to see shoddy work done at many spots downtown, half-shoveled sidewalks in particular. Why do some business owners stop mid-way? (Where was Shovelman?)
- Most “catch basins” were not cleared, as previously indicated by the Mayor (I guess that’s why she skipped town!)
- This Sleepy’s truck, on top of the already maze-like pathways makes residents walk practically in the middle of the intersection! No shame, especially a block away from BOTH city hall AND Police HQ!
Are you satisfied with “just barely good enough?”

So what’s good for the goose is NOT good for the gander? A Sleepy’s delivery truck is annoying the hell out of you and “praise be” the UPS Driver? Or is it just to incite the reader to comment like I’m doing. Guess I have to respond to something. It’s starting to resemble one big giant menu here.

As for the Xmas wreaths on the light poles, it’s been the same way with Cappiello, Vezetti, Pasculli, Russo, and Roberts administrations. NOW it bothers you!

Yes, we’ve had x-mas wreaths put on light poles with every administration, but they always spanned the full length of Washington Street.
411 observed that the wreaths were only put on DOWNTOWN poles, omitting uptown all together.
This is one of those situations where you either do it right, or don’t do it at all.

NO—They didn’t always span Washington from 1st to 14th.

Here’s a photo of UPTOWN wreaths, and yes – they cut back this year (many old school BnR’s were upset about it too):

I beg to differ. I’d always see wreaths from my walk at Elysian Cafe on up to The Madison.

And how long have you been in town? For some administration I’ve mentioned the lighting stopped at 7th and Wash. It was 1st thru 6th that was considered the “shopping” district– now known as the “twirp and slurp” district.
