Sidewalk Shotz: Windshield SPAM!

11/20/2009:

Continuing this week’s “Sidewalk Shotz” series of sights spotted while traversing our fair city…

How do you prevent Windshield Spam?

Even weeks past the Hoboken Mayoral Election, windshield fliers are STILL present in the Mile Square. Not sure if this particular person just didn’t care – or should we start to get worried about them?

If fact – how would you suggest stopping the litter that crosses our paths each day? An ordinance? Stickers? More enforcement? I just wonder how’d that be possible if our police force was cut down… Hmmm….

If you have sidewalk images you’d like to share – send them in for eventual inclusion on Hoboken411! Please state how you’d like to be credited in your email, and a description – if desired!! (that is, if people have the energy to do stuff like I do…)

The city already has laws on the books dealing with unwanted advertisements but it’s not enforced. People need to pressure the Sanitation Dept to start fining these places. All of these businesses that leave flyers on cars and doorsteps have addresses and phone numbers on them. Residents should have an easy way to complain about them and the city needs to do some actual followup and crack down on these businesses, not just pay lip service to the laws and shrug it off. It’s out of control.

Who would be responsible for enforcing this ordinance? Why isn’t anyone ever caught?

If they had more public trash bins, I wouldn’t mind as much, but you need to walk six blocks just to find one, and hate bringing this junk in my car.

Many just throw them on the street.
