Hoboken Food Delivery Overload!

10/16/2009:
Some places excel, others do not – WHY?
Over the years, I’ve heard stories across the board of various restaurants that could deliver well (like some pizza places) – and others that are consistently sloooooowwwww!
Two such “slow” places serve Indian food – Karma Cafe and India on the Hudson. Since the weather was crappy last night – deliveries were taking 90 minutes or longer! We just picked ours up – and saw this backlog of orders waiting to go out. While the food is very enjoyable, what is so hard to get about delivery? What slows it down? The kitchen? The type of cuisine? Prep time? The delivery mechanism? Bad management?

I know that they’re always slow, but last night’s delay/lineup in particular may have also had to do with the start of Diwali

Karma has great food but is a DISASTER when it comes to delivery. We had Hi-So Thai last night and they were there within 40 minutes. Normal delivery time. Question for others who eat there – is it me of has the Thai beef salad gone down hill? I thought last time was an exception but it was lousy again last night so is now off my favorites list.

Aroma wins fastest delivery in Hoboken. It’s usually at your door within 15 minutes of ordering.

I ordered Chinese from Yeung last night. It arrived in like 20-25mins.

I suppose if there were as many Indian food places as pizza places in Hoboken then ordering during foul weather at the start of Diwali might not be as much of a problem.

I’m not sure what point this post is supposed to be making, as it should just be a cut-and-dry answer. Bad weather = more delivery orders for all places and bad road conditions. Had they said, “It’ll be there in 10″ only to show up 90 minutes later, that’s a whole different story. People have to take all these things into consideration … I’m sure it’s not a restaurant’s intentions to provide terrible delivery service.. but it happens.

I never have a problem with Karma Kafe. Usually delivered within 30 minutes. I get pretty freaked out when chinese food is at my door just a few minutes after i hang up the phone.

Karma is one of the best restaurants in Hoboken. always factor in the long delivery time, they’re THAT good. Yeung II (and other chinese food places) are amazing with the delivery times, don’t even attempt a quick shower after you hang up with them…

I love the food at Karma, but don’t eat there too often as it’s too spicy for my husband and the food doesn’t travel well. Even if I pick it up fresh and carry it home, it doesn’t taste as good after the walk as it does if I sit there. Also, I like their foofy girly drinks. Especially the blue one.
