Housing Bubble – For Sale Sign Fiesta!

4/11/2006:

I stumbled across this site dedicated to tracking the "Housing Bubble" called BUBBLE TRACK . They pointed out the mass hysteria and desperation with the gluttony of homes for sale in our area.

Take a look.. It's a two-part series, both Hoboken and Jersey City. Click the photos to go to the blog for more info.

"we were shocked and stunned by a row of brownstones festooned with for-sale signs and balloons that cried out for more attention than a puppy in a pet store (but not as cute)"

"You know.. I just realized. If balloons are being used, they must have gotten people's attention in the past. Maybe that's because buyers have been acting like children for years now? Maybe they should tape lollipops to the signs too!"

Jersey City:

What's your opinion about the housing market?

I know a lot of people that made out well, did you? Is it too late to buy? Is the bubble bursting? How would you interpret the large inventory of homes for sale?

There were similar signs over at The Huntington last week 8 or 9 for sale signs alone in one building:the huntington 2 for sale1.JPG
It makes you wonder why there is a group of people in the town who think we should try and build our self out of this mess. I question their motives and their logic. The idea that you would build more houses and develop more in a hosuing bibble when there in over supply is no answer
I understand their logic. More buildings means more tax revenues to pay for the bloat. It also means more pay hikes and promotions for the city workers. Makes perfect sense if all you care about is the city workers & getting elected.
