India On The Hudson – Closed

India on The Hudson – Closed but not doomed in Hoboken

Doh! The lease was up at India on the Hudson (1210 Washington St.), and the owners most likely got socked with another unconscionable rent increase. So they’re done.

We’ve heard that they’re looking for other spots either uptown near 14th Street (maybe Puerto Spain?) – or downtown closer to 2nd Street.

Hopefully India on the Hudson comes back somewhere in Hoboken – because they had top notch Indian! (Note that Karma Kafe is owned by the same people.)

I’ve only had them for delivery service (which was timely). I think the food is always good, fresh and delivered hot.

Three roaches in the lady’s room last night. Ate there anyway ‘cuz the food is great. Spent the whole dinner scanning the walls for more roaches. Didn’t see any. So maybe they were just lady roach customers freshining up.

The food was okay……but the place was dirty. There was a hair in my drinking glass, and the bathroom was DISGUSTING.
If that is where the staff washes their hands, I don’t want to be eating there. It was really dirty.

My wife and I went two Fridays ago and were very underwhelmed. There two waiters for the 10 tables with people at them (which I wouldn’t think would overwhelm a server) and the service was just awful. After telling our waiter when he served our meal that we needed to leave rather soon, it took another 30 minutes to get the check, and that was only after I went to the bar to ask for it. Additionally, it was absolutely freezing in the dining room — so much so that most people in there had their hats and coats on. The kicker was that when the woman at the table next to us asked them to turn up the heat, they said no! For my money, Bombay West is the best Indian place in town.

Papadams. Or something like that.

Unless you mean “crackers”, in which case they’re called “People from West Virginia”.
