Mayor feeds kids at Church Square Park

What a nice thing to do on a beautiful day like this!
There IS such a thing as a “free lunch!”
Newly elected Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano took some time this afternoon for a “meet and greet” with Hoboken Moms over at Church Square Park, giving kids free lunches in the process.
Good to see the new Mayor spending time “on the street” with local residents.

Hey with unemployment reaching 10% – there’s no way possible they could all be “Nanny Moms!”

I would look at those numbers a little more closer H411. See what demo’s make up that 10%. I would not be surprised to find that a majority of those were never “nanny’s havers” to begin with.

Everyone is right. There are plenty of nannies out there in the parks, but also plenty of stay-at-home moms. Some of those moms are home because they can be home (spouses support the family), for some with more than two kids it makes more sense not to work due to child care costs, and yes, there are some laid-off moms out there these days.
Though I’m wondering if he should have gone to Maxwell Park to try to woo uptown moms…

Um, I’m going out on a limb here but eff it. There are more nannies out and about during the day. Maybe– maybe– there is more time to be a mom, now. But that doesn’t mean that moms are taking this opportunity up, especially if mommy is paying almost minimum wage for a full-timer.
There are cut-backs in many areas in town. But kid-related stuff is doing fine.
