Pier A Fountain…

7/7/2009:

“What about the kids?”

Hoboken411 has received many emails from parents wondering why the fountain at Pier A Park isn’t on yet, while other parks (like Elysian Park) are… I know we had an unusually cold month of June, but that shouldn’t be an excuse, right?

Uh, Stevens park has sprinklers. And it’s only a couple of blocks away from Pier A.

The Pier A fountain is filtered and chlorinated. It is not fit for drinking, just like a swimming pool. I think the “no bathing” is for the hobos who stop by and wash themselves and their clothes in it. The 3rd and Madison park is also filtered and not fit to drink.

Anyone aware of the sign partially hidden by the trees that says something along the lines of, “Fountain not intended for bathing”? I’ll try to get a picture of it on the way home.

I believe the water in this fountain is recycled and therefore probably not that sanitary. It does give off a funny smell too.

I wouldn’t let my kids in it.
