Hudson local in America’s Got Talent!

6/8/2009:

I don’t regularly shop at the A&P Supermarket over in Jersey City, but Hoboken411 reader Jason does – and said:

Hudson County’s version of Susan Boyle?

“Not sure if you shop at the A&P in Jersey City but there is a cashier that has been working there for years and I am sure many of your readers have had the pleasure to meet her. Well this evening my wife and I were flabbergasted to see her on a promo for America’s Got Talent as a contestant. I’ve never been an avid watcher of this show but that could all change this season. Could she be the next Susan Boyle of Britian’s Got Talent fame? We will see.

Can anyone identify this woman?”

The premiere of America’s Got Talent is on Tuesday, June 23rd on NBC!

Here’s a video preview of her “bizarre” dancing!

Carol Lugo — a longtime Hamilton Park resident, born and raised in Jersey City — is our “talented” friend’s name. And, yes, she is the nicest cashier ever at the A&P.

Carol is supremely kind and extremely humble, the sweetest of souls. [The auditioning process has been so long, and requiring of absolute discretion. When the TV crew recently visited to shoot her biographical video, Carol was eager, if adorably nervous, because her co-workers and neighbors would finally learn of her top-secret quest.] We are excited for her well-deserved opportunity in the spotlight.

Good luck, Carol!!!

OMG!! How can you not know this woman if you shop at A&P in Jersey City? I have shopped there for years and I purposely pick her line every time because she is sweet and fast at checking me through. I am so excited for her and never watch this show. But I certainly will now!! Awesome to see someone who lives a normal every day life live out their dream!

Like everyone else said, she’s very friendly and serene. Occasionally I see her walking to work on Marin Blvd. I think she’s on the day shift – I go to that A&P at lunchtime during the week.
