Obnoxious advertising stickers

6/5/2009:

Putting posters on telephone poles is one thing that can possibly irritate some Hoboken residents – but now street-marketers are getting crafty and attaching hard to remove stickers on poles, telephone booths and even private property!

Hey Buddy, what’s up with the stickers?

Hoboken411 reader Homeworld sent this pic in a few weeks ago, and then again mentioned that this guy is now sticking them on your trash cans on top of street pipes, building walls, etc.!

Rent Control an issue again

Rent control seems to be becoming an issue again in Hoboken (more on that later) – and one lawyer is putting up cards on cars, in buildings (as well as stickers I can vaguely recall…)

Do you really find them that annoying? Bothersome, yes. But the anger? WOW! You want to call someone 3 times a day and waste his time (and yours), go ahead. Everyone is being laid off, loosing homes, etc. This person is looking for more work. Maybe to feed his family. Personally, I find the flyers on TREES annoying more annoying. The stickers not so much.

The one on the Rents is more like a public service announcement. I heard its been an issue for years and even brought to the City Council’s attention a few times only to go nowhere (shocking).

Can I go put stickers all over your property, then, if it’s not annoying?

Absolutely. Especially if it helps me fight the injustices and inequities in town.

Hey, homeworld. Pink and purple princess stickers if you do, please.

if the city refuses to fine arrest this guy then i suggest we ALL flood his cell number with calls all day asking if he changes light bulbs, and how much? can he oil squeaky door hinges? how much? does he adjust kitchen cabinet hinges? i have a loose drawer knob? and finally, how much to remove stickers from my garbage cans? block your outgoing cell number and call him 3-4-5 times a day to ask if can do a job and how much? then tell him you have to think about it. he wants to be annoying? we can respond in kind.

I called and left him a message asking if he could come remove his stickers off the exterior of our building, since he’s a “cleaning service.” He never called back or removed the stickers. I had to go use a scrapper to get all of the residue from the stickers off.

I have a friend who won a rent-control battle.

Fun Fact: Most tenants don’t have to litigate to get their back rent

That fact was not fun at all.
