When people get inconvenienced they get pissed but if you can’t find an alternate route around Hoboken during this parade then you deserve to be inconvenienced, this is for the Veterans and the sacrifices that they made. They were much bigger than sitting in traffic! Do yourself a favor this weekend and bye a drink for a Veteran or just give em a hug and say thanks for everything you have given! Then quietly say a prayer for world wide peace and enjoy your freedom to do what ever you feel like this weekend. Safe and happy to all. Peace!

This Memorial Day Parade to show respect for our veterans…I have marched in this parade every year for many, many years. My close relatives served during World War II and the Korean Conflict (War). I have served in the United States Army (Reserve). We have many men and women still serving. This event is really to remember those who have been killed and maimed in the service of our country. I am quite surprised with the opinions expressed in some of the comments viewed.

We didn’t “recruit” developers to come in here. Model Cities did that in the early seventies, and each corner burned and many were displaced. I was among them and lost friends who were burned to death! Stop blaming the people who live here for years. We didn’t light any fires! We didn’t build any condos. Some of us lived through the worst time in history in this town and are still here. Stop blaming us and calling us names. You are an idiot.

I would not blame the average citizen like yourself. But if you look at the actions taken by the city council and mayors over the years, their policies and actions encouraged developers, and still do.

Developers come here and buy land confident that they will be granted variances to increase the height or lot coverage, be awarded PILOTs, etc.

When a poster blames someone like Cammarano for development, they are blaming the politician for the votes they have made that favored developers and not the citizens.

One more thing- the people who recruited the developers to build the condos that the ‘evil newcomers’ live are BnR. The majority of the people who voted for the Russo / Roberts administrations, who gave away the abatements and the variances and the created the over-development and space issues, are also BnR.

So why blame the people who live in the condos instead of the people who had them built?
