“Just in time for Bike Month, new bike lanes are being installed along Grand Street this week! The new lane striping stretches from 9th Street all the way to 3rd Street at the moment, eventually heading all the way down to Newark Street. Now there are bike lanes heading uptown (along Madison Avenue) and downtown (along Grand Street). The bike lanes are designed to provide space along excessively wide streets for bicyclists while simultaneously slowing down cars (the narrower lane for cars makes drivers slow down but does not reduce roadway capacity). Bike lanes are placed on the left side of the street because bikers are three times less likely to be “doored” (a car door opens up unexpectedly) riding on the passenger side of parked cars. So get out on your bikes this weekend and take a cruise around your Hoboken streets! Enjoy!”

Bike lanes? I thought they were the double parking spots. Take a look in front of Biggie’s Clam Bar. Last time I drove by, there were 6 cars parked in it.

I just hope the bikers honor the stop signs when they get to 8th, 6th, and 4th streets, which have the right of way coming from the left side. It will be hard to see the bikers coming down Grand from those numbered streets, if the bikers don’t stop at the corners.

i can’t wait to use the new bike lane to get to biggie’s! Then afterward I basically need to pedal up to Fort Lee to burn off all that yumminess

I thought these were nice until happening upon a black chevy suv of some sort double parked in front of church square condo’s in the lane. There were NO cars already parked at the curb yet the person who left it double parked couldn’t be bothered to pull up to the curb. oh, and usually when you double park, don’t you leave hazard blinkers on?
making it worse were the multiple hoboken fire department decals and badges adorning the front windshield just to make sure it wouldn’t get tickets.
I have multiple pictures of this as well as the license plate number of the offending vehicle.
