Margaret Reports: You Decide
Whew – not sure what to say!
11th Street crossing guard (and Democratic Committeewoman) Margaret O’Brien is a staple of Hoboken. She’s not afraid to express herself, gets involved with the community and researches everything from A to Z – and beyond.
The other day we were chatting on the corner, and she started going WAY in-depth about these proposed “pumps” in Hoboken. Even though she’s my elder (just by a little) – I couldn’t keep up with her! Maybe it was because I was on my way to get morning coffee – maybe not. But here’s what I can recall her telling me:
- Whomever is claiming to get the “first” pumps in Hoboken is wrong. The first one is on 11th and Hudson.
- Adding additional pumps will “flood the city with CaCa.”
- When the pipes were malfunctioning at her building “children became sick with bacillary dysentery.”
- Even so – the wooden pipe infrastructure uptown is a priority over the pumps – as they won’t stand the pressure.
She provided me with a stack of papers (notes, web links, news stories) – and I’ll leave it up to you to decide (and decipher) what they mean.
Here’s a video of Margaret explaining the 11th Street station:
