5/1/2009:
This may be the last (or next to last) photo in the “blast from the past” series of retro pix that appeared this week on Hoboken411…
Hoboken411 reader photo of the day – 5/1/2009
Here’s what remains of the abandoned Levolor Factory that burned down (along with 14 other buildings) back in 1985:

[Stay tuned for tomorrow's Readerpix entry! - Note: one reader's photo(s) will be featured each day at approximately 11am. Unless your photo is time-sensitive - it will be published in the order it was received! Additional note: Your pictures will have a better chance of being published if they're in "landscape" mode, as opposed to the taller "portrait" modes... ]

Oh Man I remember that day I was working across the Street in a Food Dist. Company, B & S Dairy. Not a very good memory. 411 has been putting up better pictures (Blast from the Past) this one is very Gray in my eyes!! I probably ran to the Bar back then during the Fire. Thank God I don’t Drink anymore but it is depressing enough to make you want to have a POP…LOL

Not the best shot of this event. There is a pretty incredible set of pictures of this fire at the Firemen’s Museum @ 2nd and Bloomfield. What a fireball!

I worked in the Empire State Building at the time and watched it from the windows on the 36th Floor. It was really amazing.

There were high winds and embers the size of baseballs were flying… even started a barge afire at Hoboken’s waterfront. It was freezing weather too!
