April Events at DeBaun Center

Whoa Nelly! A whole SLEW of events taking place at the DeBaun Center for Performing Arts in April – as part of their 5th Annual Stevens Arts Month!

DeBaun Center for Performing Arts is happy to announce the 5th Annual Stevens Arts Month and all of its associated events to be held in Hoboken, NJ on the campus of Stevens Institute of Technology.

“Five years ago, DeBaun Center for Performing Arts created Stevens Arts Month, held in April of each year. This month provides an opportunity for people to experience all of the performing arts that Stevens has to offer. The events include presentations and productions by students of voice, piano and strings, the Stevens Dramatic Society, the Stevens Choir, the Stevens Concert and Jazz Bands, with their respective ensembles, and a photography art installation.”

(5th Annual Stevens Arts Month, Continued…)

April 2-4

  • Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, presented by Stevens Dramatic Society:
    Disney’s beloved movie musical comes to life on stage with Belle, the Beast, dancing flatware and singing furniture in this fairy tale about very different people finding strength in one another and learning how to love. Performances are Thursday–Saturday, April 2–4 at 8 p.m. in DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 5th and Hudson Sts. Tickets are $7 at the door.

April 17

  • Advanced Piano Students Concert:
    Piano students of Artist-In-Residence Phillip Dieckow playing Beethoven, Grieg, Liszt, Saint-Saens and plenty of Chopin, celebrating in advance of the 200th Anniversary of his birth. The performance will be held on Friday, April 17 at 8 p.m. in The Great Hall of the S.C. Williams Library on the Stevens campus. Donations are accepted and refreshments will be served.

April 18

  • “Love, Aspects Of”, presented by the Stevens Choir:
    This concert looks at romantic love from various angles, including taking that first risk in meeting someone, to “star-crossed lovers”, to the rich love of true partnership, to sheer sexual chemistry and sensuality with music from Bernstein, Barber, Whitacre, Bizet, Billy Joel and various others. The concert will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 8 p.m. in DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 5th and Hudson Sts. Tickets are $5 (suggested donation).

April 24

  • An Evening of Chamber Music, featuring the Stevens String Ensembles and advanced voice students:
    String students of Martin Anderson, Artist-In-Residence, and Vocal students of Bethany Reeves, Artist-In-Residence, present a beautiful evening of chamber music, with a jazz surprise! The performance will be held on Friday, April 24 at 8 p.m. in The Great Hall of the S.C. Williams Library on the Stevens campus. Donations are accepted and refreshments will be served.

April 25

  • Stevens Concert Band Spring Concert, with performances by the Stevens Brass Ensemble and the Castle Point Saxtet:
    The Concert Band, under the direction of Gerald Ficeto, will perform music from Holst, Scott Joplin, Herbie Hancock, Arthur Sullivan, Klaus Badelt and many others. The concert will be held on Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m. in DeBaun Auditorium, Edwin A. Stevens Hall, 5th and Hudson Sts. Tickets are $5 (suggested donation).

April 29

  • Stevens Jazz Band Spring Concert:
    The Jazz Band, under the direction of Gerald Ficeto, will perform music from Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Cy Coleman, Lorenz Hart, Milton DeLugg, Chuck Mangione and many others. The concert will be held in Bissinger Room, 4th floor of the Howe Center on the Stevens campus. Tickets are $5 (suggested donation).

  • Art Installation at Edwin A. Stevens Hall:
    DeBaun Center for Performing Arts is proud to announce the installation of photographic art from Stevens student Samuel Eichner. Sam’s artwork is being prominently displayed in the first floor hallway of the Edwin A. Stevens Hall for all to enjoy. Please come and view his art whenever you are in the building or in the area.
