I’m glad to see them moving forward with more installations. This place is getting really rough. A friday night on Washington is just sirens and police lights flashing, and panhandlers asking for money on every block. I parked my car the other night and i didnt even have one foot out the door and a woman came up to me asking for money. I walked to the convenience store and a homeless man asked me for a dollar, not even “spare change”, but a dollar, is he out of his mind? Please. With the shootings, bar fights, robbery, women being harassed by men with guns. We need to get this city back before it spirals out of control. I’d love to see a camera on every intersection, and they shouldnt even hide them, they should make it well known that they’re watching.

I’m sure we will never find out:
a. how much they cost?
b. how the contract was approved?
c. who is monitoring this? Local PD or paying a monitor
d. How much the additional manpower for monitoring the system is.
e. Why they were all installed in low crime areas like…Washington!?!?!?!

I’ve said this like 100 other times in other threads, but the ones on 11th and Hudson are not security cameras. They are traffic cameras for controlling the traffic lights at that intersection.

It doesn’t matter how many cameras you put up,they are useless unless they are used for law enforcement not perches for piegons. They can be a great weapon in the war against crime if they are used and manned24/7
