Hoboken Parking Wars?

2/24/2009:

Imagine this show in Hoboken?

parking-wars-logo.jpgHad a chance to “channel surf” this weekend, and caught this show called Parking Wars on A&E – have any of you seen it?

They follow the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) around as they deal with the day-to-day incidents involving illegally parked cars, towing and the headaches it causes for both the violators and those hired to enforce the law.

One thing obviously different between the PPA and the Hoboken Parking Authority (HPA) – is that the PPA employees have the right to issue tickets for violations other than just overtime or alternate side of the street parking.

Infractions such as fire hydrants, double parking, loading zones and more. In Hoboken, the police department is the one that issues violations like that. Hmmm… wouldn’t that free up the cops to handle more important things?

While I’m sure Hoboken has enough material for many many seasons of Parking Wars – I’m not too sure city officials would feel too comfortable with cameras “shining light” on everything they’re doing!! Zing!

The beginning of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is about them driving around Hoboken trying to find a space.

Wow…I really despise the interface on this site. It Just cuts many of my posts in half for some reason. Might want to check on that.

What I was going to say was that 97% of the cars I see parked in front of hydrants or in loading zones are HPD cars getting lunch or breakfast at Luca Brasis and elsewhere. I see very few regular cars in these spots.

So I guess it wouldn’t free up any of HPD time at all.
